Professor Lammert’s visit included a function in Wellington to celebrate the German Day of Unity. The next day business leaders, including Bianca Mueller from LawDownUnder, were invited to a lunch with Norbert Lammert and his delegation in the residence of the German ambassador in Wellington.

Germany and New Zealand are strengthening their diplomatic and economic ties.

Mr. Lammert’s visit to New Zealand continues a recent series of high level visits between New Zealand and Germany. The German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited New Zealand in 2014 and Prime Minister John Key led a New Zealand delegation to Germany in 2015.

In return, members of the German Bundestag visited New Zealand in April this year.
